Recent incident of carcass dumping Trust representatives met this week with Council staff to discuss recent issues at Tamatea St and to explore assistance available form Council. The history of the Trust and Tamatea St were discussed, highlighting the current issues being experienced. Council staff were very supportive and agreed to:-
This is just the start of improving safety measures and we encourage anyone that witnesses an incident of inappropriate behaviour to note it down and report it to the Police. Police have had an increased presence at Rotoiti as of late,, and a number of unlicensed motorbikes have been seized. We will meet again with Council in late January. It is with a sad heart that we were informed today that people have dumped carcasses of dead animals into our lake, off the jetty on Tamatea Street. This behaviour, is obviously not appropriate, and when challenged about this, have made claims that are completely untrue. We are working through appropriate avenues, to stop such behaviour.
